So my brother came home today. And since he’d been gone for sooo long, I was pretty sure we wouldn’t recognize him, and he might not recognize us. So I made some really helpful signs so that he could find us.

See? There's even a picture of him so that if he can't recognize his name at least he might recognize his picture. (not sure what happened to his mouth. Or his clothes...)

It worked. We found him at the airport and brought him home.

Tom, the Humble Hero

If someone were to write a book about me, I’d like them to call it “Tom, the Humble Hero.” Or better yet, just “The Humble Hero.” I don’t want all the praise for myself. And “Tom” and “Humble” are somewhat synonymous anyways. I was telling my sister all of this tonight as I was doing the dishes and hoping that I wasn’t robbing my mom of the blessing of doing the dishes. Jen mentioned that sometimes you just have to be selfish and grab a blessing for yourself every now and then. But, as I told her, I’ve pretty much been grabbing other people’s blessings my whole life. I think sometimes you just gotta share the blessings, know what I mean?

Anyways, if any of you ever decides to pen that thriller, keep my title choice in mind will ya?

So I haven’t written in a while…sorry, been busy! I wasn’t sure if I still had any readers, so I wasn’t real motivated to keep writing. But then I thought…I’m not writing for THEM, I’m writing because it’s so fulfilling, and I really enjoy it. So, whether you read or not is up to you, but I’m writing for the sheer joy of it.

My car is running. I have a job. I went to camp. That’s what’s new in the world of Tommy D.

Guess what I found out today? I never had a baby shower when I was a baby! Jennifer had TWO, Steven got one, maybe EVERYONE else had one, but I never did. I feel really deprived! I was crushed when I found out! Can you believe that? No baby shower. My mom said it was because she had already had a few boys and already had everything that she needed for me. So I guess I got the leftovers. I feel so special. She says I can have a baby shower/18th bday party all at once. Jen says I can keep all the baby items I receive for when I have my own much anticipated kids. I don’t know though. If I do, you are all definitely all invited. (Can you register for motorcycles at Babies R Us?)

I’m a spelling champ

Never mind about the blindness. I don’t have the pics and it wasn’t funny anyways. Had to be there to get it I’m sure. It was temporary blindness anyways. It went away.

Yep, I’m a spelling champ. Well, I got 3rd place anyways. My family is speechless. They thought I had entered as a joke. Can you believe that? They had no faith in me. None. I guess I showed them though. I am much more of a scholar than they give me credit for. I did get first in ping pong, first as a bball team, and second in chess, so I do tend to still do better in sports. But still…3rd place. Not bad, right?
